Ben Doherty is the driving force behind SkillRise Training Ltd, leveraging his extensive background in the construction industry to address a critical need for scaffolding training in Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, and beyond. Currently an Operations Manager for one of Hampshire's leading scaffolding businesses, Ben has observed a significant gap in training offerings for aspiring scaffolders and industry professionals.
With over a decade of experience, Ben's career journey has taken him from a labourer to Operations Manager, enabling him to gain a comprehensive understanding of every management level within the construction sector. He has honed his skills across various industries, including highways and nuclear, culminating in a specialisation in scaffolding.
A former member of the Royal Air Force, Ben completed three tours in Afghanistan, which instilled in him a deep sense of purpose and dedication. He is passionate about providing new service leavers with the necessary skills and support to launch their careers in the scaffolding industry, ensuring they have a smooth transition into civilian life and a successful future.
Martin Miller - Co-Founder
Martin Miller brings over 20 years of scaffolding expertise to SkillRise Training Ltd, having cultivated his knowledge and skills through years of hands-on experience. Rising through the ranks from apprentice to Contracts Manager at one of Hampshire's premier scaffolding firms, Martin has been involved in some of the region's largest and most complex scaffolding projects. His extensive background positions him as a valuable resource for both trainees and experienced professionals alike.
Martin is dedicated to sharing his wealth of knowledge with the next generation of scaffolders. With a keen passion for teaching, he has transitioned into scaffolding education, focusing on bridging the knowledge gap within the industry. His classes are designed to provide not just technical skills, but also a comprehensive understanding of safety practices, project management, and the latest innovations in scaffolding techniques.
Together, Ben and Martin founded SkillRise Training Ltd with a shared vision: to elevate scaffolding training in their region, empower aspiring scaffolders, and contribute positively to the construction industry's future.
